The most popular surgical procedures in 2002 and 2003 were liposuction, which accounted for 24% of total procedures, followed by breast augmentation at 17%. While surgical facelifts slightly increased in the number of procedures, non-surgical facelifts increased a dramatic 325% to total 17,628 in 2003.
This is attributable to the technologies of Thread and Feather lifts, and other procedures such as Thermage and Pan G treatments. More than 100,000 Botox® injections on 50,000 patients were performed in Canada alone in 2003, an increase of 19%. The number of injectables continues to increase as well, due to technological advances, and were used by more than 42,000 people in Canada in 2003, up 23%.
